Let's Talk: Heart Disease & Stroke
My main specialty is the field of cardiovascular disease, the number one killer in the western world, more than all cancers combined!
For the most part cardiovascular diseases can be prevented if predisposing risk factors are identified early and a prudent healthy lifestyle implemented. This is known as Primary Prevention.
In patients with an already established condition, controlling risk factors long term is essential to prevent future events. This is called Secondary Prevention.
I encourage all adults, especially those 35 years of age and older, to have a comprehensive cardiovascular medical evaluation to determine if cardiac risk factors are present and may need long term control, for Primary or Secondary Prevention.
